According to a recent article on dpreview, Adobe wants to get DNG established as an ISO (International Standards Organization) standard.
Ever since I bought a new Rebel XSI and had to update my software to support the new RAW format I have come to a new appreciation for DNG. If the camera would support DNG it could have produced RAW files compatible with older software. Unfortunately most large Camera manufacturers stick to their propriatary RAW formats (pfui Canon, Nikon, Olympus …).
Leica and Pentax however are shining examples of how to support DNG in their cameras. Since I think their cameras mostly suck or are overpriced I will stick with Canon.
Yes its out, I am a Canon fanboy and I am not ashamed to admit it. I have a substantial investment in that company (lens wise).
