Yeay, iPhone.
In front of hordes of drooling geeks and media buzz, Jobs announced the latest rip off and the world loves him for it one more time. I cannot help but feeling amazed about the media control this company or should I say its CEO exerts on us.
As usual, Apple managed to announce a product like many other and got a billion dollar worth of media coverage for free. I have never seen the media go crazy over the LG prada a Samsung phone or the latest HTC phones which are just as stylish, if not even more so, have always had 3G and even have flip out keyboards (see below). The media loves this company and we are excited to watch product advertisement on prime time news. Thats what I call promotion.

Apple fans / followers / disciples will not be convinced by any argument anyways. They know that Apple invented 3G and GPS all by itself to bring us this new phone, once again stunning its competition. Maybe people with a brain are willing to ask the question:
What does the iPhone cost during its two year contract? Actually the total cost will increase, due to the $10/month increase in the cheapest iPhone plan. Apple has finally understood the American way of debt. Nobody really cares what anything really costs, as long as we do not have to put money down right now. Never mind that blindly creating debt got us where we are right now.
Just looking at the latest discovery card ad, offering tools to calculate your monthly payments, seriously lets me doubt about the state of our finances and mental health. People without the most basic math skills should not be allowed to receive credit without proof of at least a 3rd grade level course completion. Maybe I should just pull my money out of the cooling commodity market and start snatching up some banks that lost a combined x trillion due to this stupid borrowing mentality? Maybe I should be thankful for this kind of blunder?
Back to the iPhone:
We do need broadband on a small handheld device! I am also convinced that browsing the web with EDGE is nearly unbearable. Seriously, who is willing to wait two seconds for a web page to load when one is bored in a meeting or waiting for the bus. We must have information instantly and we must read the new Photozilla post the instant it is published.
Well, all that said, I think I am going to buy an iPhone anyways, because it looks so damn cool. I an show it around and make everyone see how sexy I am with my new phone. Apple rocks. They understand the mass market and how to take advantage of social proof (thats when you buy the phone because everyone else thinks its cool).
